Event Staffing Agencies in San Diego
San Diego buys event labour in two markets that barely overlap. One is the convention floor: Comic-Con, BIO International and the rolling show calendar at the San Diego Convention Center, where the requirement is booth staff, registration teams and brand ambassadors, booked months ahead and priced against a national activation budget. The other is hospitality — hotel banquets along Harbor Drive and Mission Valley, catered events in the Gaslamp, and the coastal wedding trade in La Jolla, Del Mar and Rancho Santa Fe — where the requirement is servers, bartenders and, behind them, a kitchen.
17 firms screened · 8 met the criteria · last reviewed 2026-08-17
Most firms marketing event staffing here serve the first market. Of the eight in this comparison, five publish a roster that is entirely promotional and guest-facing: brand ambassadors, trade show staff, sampling teams, registration. Only two, The Party Staff and Hospitality Staffing Solutions, publish kitchen and back-of-house roles on their own sites. If your gap is a dish pit or a prep line rather than a booth host, that narrows the field before you make a single call.
One thing makes San Diego different from every other city in this series: California's AB5. Four of the eight firms here publish W-2 classification for their staff, and two of them name AB5 directly as the reason. That is a far higher rate of published classification than we found in Las Vegas or New York, and it reflects a market where misclassification exposure is a live procurement question rather than a footnote. Where a firm does not publish classification, we say so rather than guessing.
The comparison covers eight firms with a client-facing San Diego page on their own domain, ordered by how squarely that published offer matches event staffing rather than by any score. Several firms a buyer will meet in local results are not on the list — mostly because the only San Diego page they publish is a job advert rather than a service page — and each is named further down with the reason.
How this list was built
We screened 17 firms; 8 met the inclusion criteria.
We started from seventeen firms surfaced by searching for event, catering, convention and hospitality staffing in San Diego, including the agencies appearing in local results for those searches. Every claim on this page had to be verifiable on the firm's own website — directory listings, marketplaces, map listings and review sites were not accepted as a source for a firm's own claims. Firms with no San Diego-specific client-facing page on their own domain, and firms whose only San Diego page turned out to be a job advert or careers page, were kept out of the main list. Eight firms met the bar. They are ordered by how squarely their published offer matches event staffing in San Diego, not by any score, and we publish no ratings or review counts. Where a firm a San Diego buyer will plainly encounter is not on this list, we name it below and say why. DishwasherHero is one of the firms operating in this market, so treat this as a comparison written by a participant: we say where we fit and, just as plainly, where we do not.
National marketplaces and national staffing firms are included here, and labelled as such. A San Diego buyer's real options include national players, and a comparison that hid them would be less useful. Where a firm is a marketplace rather than an agency, or a national account rather than a local team, its card says so.
Four firms in this comparison publish W-2 classification for their San Diego staff: NYE Staffing, Julia Valler, Kinetic Events Staffing and Brand Ambassadors. Two of those cite California's AB5 directly, which is the reason classification is a sharper procurement question here than in most markets. Instawork operates as a self-serve marketplace. For The Party Staff, Hospitality Staffing Solutions and Air Fresh Marketing, classification is not published on their San Diego pages, so we could not verify it — a limit of what is on the public record, not a finding about how those firms operate. Ask them directly if classification matters to your procurement.

Markets served
regional coverage. States it services the greater San Diego metropolitan area and northern San Diego County, naming Carlsbad, Escondido and Del Mar, and cites convention work at the USS Midway among the high-profile events it has staffed.

Not published
Describes on-call hospitality staffing across service and culinary categories. Employment classification is not stated on the San Diego location page, so we could not verify whether staff are W-2 or contracted.
Who they suit
Hotels, caterers and venues in San Diego County that need the service floor and the kitchen behind it from one supplier — a plated dinner at a coastal property, a Del Mar or Rancho Santa Fe wedding, a convention catering contract where the dish pit and prep line have to arrive with the servers.
Hospitality Staffing Solutions
National hospitality staffing firm with a San Diego branch office, supplying housekeeping, banquet, food preparation, stewarding and engineering labour to hotels, stadiums and venues.

- Management positions
Publishes food prep and cooks and stewarding as distinct job categories, so back-of-house is explicitly in scope rather than implied. The line is departmental hotel labour rather than event-day promotional staffing.
Markets served
national coverage. Publishes a local San Diego office on Camino Del Rio South and names the Farmers Insurance Open, San Diego Crew Classic, the San Diego County Fair, Comic-Con, the Miramar Air Show and the Holiday Bowl among the events it staffs.
Engagement model
Temp-to-hire · Direct hire · Full department outsourcing
Publishes temporary and task force, temp-to-hire, direct hire and full outsourcing as engagement models. Whether individual banquet and event staff are classified W-2 is not stated on the San Diego page.
Who they suit
Hotels, stadiums and convention venues with a standing department gap rather than a single date — a housekeeping floor, a stewarding rota, a banquet kitchen running every weekend for a season. If you want a department covered on an ongoing contract, this is the shape of firm built for it.
NYE Staffing
Event staffing agency publishing a San Diego offer for corporate events, trade shows, conferences and brand activations, with staff it states are trained in-house.

- Wait staff
- Bartenders
- Greeters and ushers
- Registration and conference staff
- Hospitality staff
- Brand ambassadors and promo models
- Activation crew
Covers plated service, tray passing and buffet lines plus registration and activation crew. No kitchen or culinary roles are listed on the San Diego page, so this is a front-of-house offer.
Markets served
local coverage. Names Downtown, La Jolla, Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, Fairbanks Ranch, the Gaslamp Quarter and Mission Valley, and states it staffs the San Diego Convention Center Sails Pavilion and exhibit halls plus the Marriott Marquis and Hilton Bayfront.
Engagement model
W-2 employees
Publishes W-2 classification, stating its team is trained in-house and hired as W-2 employees. That is a published claim on its own San Diego page rather than an inference.
Who they suit
Exhibitors and corporate hosts working the convention centre and the Gaslamp hotel block who need servers, bartenders and registration staff on short notice and want the employer-of-record question answered before they contract.
Julia Valler Event Staffing
Event staffing agency that opened a San Diego branch alongside its New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Las Vegas and San Francisco offices, placing selected service and promotional talent.

Markets served
national coverage. Lists San Diego as one of its branch cities alongside New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Las Vegas and San Francisco. The page does not name specific San Diego venues, so treat coverage as city-wide rather than venue-specific.
Engagement model
W-2 employees
Publishes W-2 classification for its event staff and states insurance coverage on the same page. Classification is published, so it is verifiable rather than assumed.
Who they suit
Private hosts, caterers and corporate planners running a gala, launch or upmarket private event in San Diego who want a boutique service roster — waitstaff, bartenders, hostesses — from an agency that publishes W-2 status.
Kinetic Events Staffing
W-2 staffing agency delivering flexible labour since 2006, with a San Diego field team of brand ambassadors, trade show and convention staff and onsite managers.
Visit Kinetic Events StaffingWhat they staff
- Brand ambassadors
- Trade show booth staff
- Convention assistants
- Street teams
- Onsite and field managers
Brand ambassador, trade show and street team labour. No kitchen, culinary or catering back-of-house roles are mentioned on the San Diego page.
Markets served
national coverage. Publishes a downtown San Diego office address and names the San Diego Convention Center, Petco Park, Snapdragon Stadium, the Manchester Grand Hyatt, the Marriott Marquis, Hotel del Coronado, Balboa Park and the Embarcadero.
Engagement model
W-2 employees
Publishes W-2 classification and states compliance with California state labour law, contrasting its model with agencies that engage independent contractors. Relevant in California, where AB5 makes classification a procurement question.
Who they suit
National brands activating at Comic-Con or a convention centre show who need a California-compliant W-2 brand ambassador team with a named local field manager rather than a loose roster of freelancers.
Brand Ambassadors
National experiential staffing network deploying local brand ambassadors, trade show staff and event teams across San Diego and the surrounding areas.
Visit Brand AmbassadorsWhat they staff
- Brand ambassadors
- Trade show staff
- Promo models and spokesmodels
- Sampling teams
- Street teams
- Onsite managers
An experiential marketing roster end to end. The San Diego page lists no catering, kitchen or back-of-house positions at all, so it is not an option for culinary labour.
Markets served
national coverage. Names the San Diego Convention Center, Pechanga Arena and the USS Midway Museum as the local venues it works, with staff drawn from the surrounding metro area.
Engagement model
W-2 employees
Publishes W-2 classification and states its California event staff are W-2 employees in compliance with AB5, with payroll, taxes and liability insurance handled in-house.
Who they suit
Brands that need AB5-compliant promotional staffing for a California trade show or convention-floor activation and want a fast quote turnaround rather than a long agency onboarding.
Air Fresh Marketing
Experiential marketing staffing agency treating San Diego as one of its premier Southern California markets, supplying brand ambassadors, promotional models, trade show staff and event coordinators.

Not published
References a San Diego talent network of several hundred trained staff but does not state W-2, 1099 or marketplace classification on the page, so we could not verify it.
Who they suit
Consumer, biotech and defence-sector marketers running an activation, booth or sampling programme around Comic-Con, BIO or a convention-centre show, where the requirement is trained consumer-facing presence rather than event labour.
Instawork
On-demand marketplace giving San Diego businesses access to local event workers, with shifts posted and filled through the platform rather than brokered by an account manager.
Visit InstaworkWhat they staff
- Stadium, convention and event staff
- Food and beverage staff
- Dining facility staff
- Brand ambassadors
Groups food and beverage and dining facilities alongside stadium and convention work, so kitchen-adjacent shifts exist on the platform, but individual role titles are not itemised on the San Diego category page.
Markets served
local coverage. States it connects businesses with local talent from Downtown, La Jolla and Chula Vista for on-demand, seasonal and temp-to-hire shifts across the metro area.
Engagement model
Self-serve marketplace
Operates as a self-serve marketplace for on-demand, seasonal and temp-to-hire shifts. The San Diego category page does not use the terms W-2 or 1099, so classification is not verifiable there.
Who they suit
Operators who would rather post shifts and manage matching themselves than brief an agency — useful for filling short-notice gaps, less useful when you need one accountable supplier to own a crew for a full event.

When another agency is the better call
Some needs are not event staffing, and no firm on the main list is the right answer for them. These firms are — each one verified on its own website.
United Guard Services, Inc. — event security guards
Publishes a special event security staffing offer covering uniformed and plainclothes guards for concerts, trade shows and galas in San Diego. Security is licensed work and sits outside event staffing, so book it with a security firm rather than an event agency.
United Guard Services special event security staffing page (retrieved 2026-08-17)
Eleven Eleven Audio Visual — AV and production crew
Publishes audio, video, lighting, staging, hybrid production and technical event management for San Diego events. If the gap is a technical crew rather than service or kitchen labour, this is a production company's job, not a staffing agency's.
Eleven Eleven Audio Visual San Diego production page (retrieved 2026-08-17)
Horizon Hospitality — permanent hospitality hiring
Publishes executive and mid-management search for hotels, restaurants and private clubs in San Diego. This is permanent placement rather than temporary event staffing — the right call when you are filling a salaried chef or F&B management post.
Horizon Hospitality San Diego recruiters page (retrieved 2026-08-17)
Performance Strata Services — janitorial and post-event cleanup
Publishes janitorial, porter and housekeeping staffing for San Diego properties, including one-off cleaning for special events. Venue turnaround and post-event cleanup are a different labour line from event or kitchen staff.

Firms we screened and left off, and why
These firms turn up in San Diego searches — several in the map pack — but did not make the main list. Rather than omit them silently, here is each one and the reason.
Brand Besties
Seen in: San Diego organic results · checked 2026-08-17
Its San Diego location page names the city as one it serves but publishes no San Diego-specific roles, venues or classification. There was nothing city-specific we could source a claim to, and a card built from national copy would tell a San Diego buyer nothing useful.
Bluecrew
Seen in: San Diego organic results · checked 2026-08-17
The only San Diego page we could find on its own domain is a worker-facing job posting for a single hourly role, not a client-facing service page. Nothing on it describes what the firm will staff for a buyer, so we could not verify scope.
Eleven8
Seen in: San Diego organic results · checked 2026-08-17
Its San Diego page is a careers page recruiting staff rather than a service page selling to clients. Roles, coverage and engagement model are all absent, so there was no buyer-facing claim on its own domain for us to source.
Royalty Staffing
Seen in: San Diego organic results · checked 2026-08-17
The San Diego page on its own domain is a job advert for catering staff it is hiring, not a service page. We could not verify from its own site that it takes San Diego client bookings, so it is named here rather than listed.
Food Team / All Team Staffing
Seen in: San Diego organic results · checked 2026-08-17
Surfaces through a business directory profile only. We could not find a working website the firm owns, and rule 1 of this comparison does not allow us to describe a firm from a directory entry. If it publishes a site, we will screen it at the next review.
Where DishwasherHero fits in San Diego
DishwasherHero staffs back-of-house only in San Diego: dishwashers, kitchen porters, prep cooks, line cooks, general cleaning and banquet BOH support. We do not staff booth hosts, brand ambassadors, registration desks or bartenders. For a Comic-Con activation or a convention-floor programme, five firms above are a better call than we are, and that is not a close judgement.
We are also not the only back-of-house option in this city. The Party Staff publishes a full kitchen and culinary line — executive chefs, sous chefs, grill and line cooks, prep cooks, utility dishwashers and stewards — alongside its banquet service roster, and Hospitality Staffing Solutions publishes food prep, cooks and stewarding as standing hotel departments. If you want one supplier for the floor and the kitchen, or a stewarding rota covered for a season, those are real and direct choices.
The difference is narrower than scope. Our staff are W-2 employees and we publish it, which in California means an AB5 answer a buyer can verify before contracting; neither The Party Staff nor Hospitality Staffing Solutions publishes classification on its San Diego page, so that answer has to come from them on a call. Kinetic Events, Brand Ambassadors, NYE Staffing and Julia Valler all publish W-2 as well, so on classification alone we are one of five, not one of one. The second difference is speed: we fill same-day where a shift is open, which suits a Saturday no-show rather than a banquet contract scoped in March.
The case for calling us is narrow: a caterer, hotel or venue food operation that has service covered and cannot staff the kitchen behind it, or one that needs verified W-2 back-of-house cover at short notice. For a full-service banquet crew booked in advance, The Party Staff is the more direct fit.
Convention and trade show staffing in San Diego
The convention centre is the most competitive buying window in this market, and Comic-Con is the sharpest point of it. Air Fresh Marketing and Kinetic Events both name it directly on their San Diego pages, and both advise booking months out — during that week every promotional roster in the county is spoken for, including staff brought in from Los Angeles and Orange County.
For booth, registration and sampling work, four firms here are built for it: Kinetic Events, Brand Ambassadors, Air Fresh Marketing and Julia Valler. Three of the four publish W-2 classification, which matters more here than elsewhere because AB5 puts misclassification exposure on the hiring brand as well as the agency. Ask for the classification answer in writing at quote stage, not after the show.
Catering and wedding staffing in San Diego County
The coastal wedding and private-event trade — Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, La Jolla, Fairbanks Ranch — is a separate market from downtown, and only some firms here reach it. The Party Staff states it services northern San Diego County including Carlsbad, Escondido and Del Mar, and NYE Staffing names the same coastal corridor on its page. National promotional agencies generally do not serve it, whatever their coverage map implies.
For a catered event, book kitchen roles before service staff. Servers and bartenders can be sourced close to the date in this county; a dish and prep team for a 400-cover plated dinner at a coastal venue cannot, and a short dish pit stalls plating inside the first hour. Travel time is also real here — a North County venue is a different sourcing problem from a Gaslamp hotel, and firms with a genuinely local roster handle it better than a national account routing the job through a central office.
Hotel and banquet staffing in San Diego
Hotels buy staffing differently from event organisers. The need is usually a standing department gap — housekeeping, stewarding, banquet service, banquet back-of-house — running across a season rather than a single date. Hospitality Staffing Solutions is the firm here built closest to that shape of work, publishing housekeeping, janitorial, banquet setup and serving, food prep, stewarding and laundry as departmental lines with a local branch office, and naming the Farmers Insurance Open, the San Diego County Fair and the Holiday Bowl among the events it covers.
If your requirement is a recurring banquet or stewarding crew rather than a one-off event team, say so on the first call. Ongoing department coverage is scheduled, contracted and priced very differently from event-day labour, and the firms that do both will quote them separately.
